How to transfer iPod music video movies to Computer&iTunes?

Anyone who has seen an iPod will understand the basic concept behind the design of the iPod touch: a 3.5-inch. There are plenty of reasons why you want to transfer iPod music to computer, For example, you may want to make backup your iPod music in case of hard drive crash, to retrieve iPod music when you accidentally deleted a song or video from your hard-drive, to share your music with your friend, to use your iPod with different or more than on computer, or to copy music to your new iPod.

Apple's iTunes really does work when it pulls iTunes purchased content off your iPod. The new iTunes 9 makes it easier to share music/video, movies, TV shows, and more. With Home Sharing, you can browse the iTunes libraries of up to five authorized computers in your house, import what you like, and automatically add new purchases made on any of the computers to your own library.

The iTunes 9 is nice for sharing the iTunes purchased content, but how to share the rest of your content of iPod with your friend, you'll need some additional software. There are a lot of programs that can transfer iPod music to computer. But from the point view of both functionality and simplicity, there is one iPod to PC Transfer which works well with all models of iPods including the latest iPod Touch 3G and iPod Nano 5G. I have a 30 gig Zine and have purchased songs from the Marketplace using Zune cards recieved as gifts. For some reason though the DRM on the files I have legally purchased will not allow me to play the songs on the Zune. I have tried several things suggested by Microsoft but without success.

With this program I am now allowed to enjoy the music that I paid for.
I am glad to see iTunes move away from DRM in some respect as it does not punish those who are paying and supporting artists.
Being a music producer and content provider myself I know how important that is.

I believe this product is amazing. It does exactly what it states, and with ease. It is easy to use and understand.
I have already found it convenient, after owning it for only a couple of hours. I would recommend this product to anyone that wants to convert a file of any type to an audio format. It works for me well, using Vista Home Basic as my o.s.
The conversions play well in my Media Player, also.
THANK YOU, G.A.O.T.D.!!!!

The good:
- easy-to-use user interface
- supports the most common audio formats (mp3, aac, ogg, wma, flac, etc.)
- can rip music from the most common video files
- saves audio metadata (e.g. title, artist) to the output (mp3 and wma)
- can play/preview the added files
- uses LAME mp3 encoder under the hood (maybe it's the best mp3 encoder)
- uses VBR for m4a, aac, ogg

The bad:
- a bit slow Ogg Vorbis encoding
- doesn't save metadata for many formats
- no support for metadata editing (I think it is important if you want to categorize your music)
- the LAME mp3 encoder is not the latest
- no VBR settings for mp3 (too few mp3 settings)

In my opinion VBR setting are very important for portable players because it can save some space without quality loss.

Free alternatives:
- winLAME
- BonkEnc

I-Pad or ITampon is It? : What 5 Important Features Does the IPad Tablet NOT Have

I just noticed something on Twitter. I noticed that" iTampon" was now trending in response to Apple's " iPad tablet". I laughed, laughed and you guessed it... laughed some more! ha...Sorry Steve Jobs.

I have been reading about what iPad tablet has. So I decided to write an article on 5 features i-Pad does NOT have. To come full circle, let's do a quick recap of what

Apple's iPad is meant to do.

"What is the iPad tablet?"
Steve Jobs (Apple's CEO) unveiled the latest product by Apple the "iPad" on 27th January. It is supposed to fill the gap that exists between smartphones and laptops.( Ok Steve, if you say there is a gap, there must be a gap.. I guess.Hmm)

"What does the iPad tablet look like?"
The iPad looks like an over-sized iPhone. It has that flat, black screen. But underneath the surface it is trying hard to act like a laptop. Poor dear! iPad is having some identity crisis.

Only time will tell if Apple's i-Pad will be a success or an iToss
Now that we have covered the basics let's see what the iPad tablet does not have.

1. i-Pad does not have a cool name- I know this because I came to write this article following iTampons on Twitter as a leading trend. Sheesh! Imagine sitting in a lounge somewhere and asking a stranger, can I please borrow your iPad? Apple's marketing team should have done a few more surveys and decided on a better name for starters. Me feels i-Pad the name makes i-Sad.

2. No Multitasking options- What this means is you can do just one task at a time. Don't even think about running AIM in the background while you're writing an email. Even netbooks have Multitasking! Lord Almighty, what were they thinking? This was a complaint with the iPhone too. It would have been nice if this could have been prevented in the iPad (still giggling).

3. No USB/Flash- Many of us are used to the fact that Apple devices are not Flash compatible. But I think it is high time Apple starts looking in that area. Even netbooks have a solution to not having a DVD drive. It is flash compatible!

How to make free phone calls on an iPod touch

You love your slender, touchscreen-enabled iPod touch and rely upon it heavily for music, photos, videos, games and apps. And even though it's not an iPhone, you can use it to place free phone calls. Here's how.

Want to know how to make free international phone calls on your iPod touch?

Yep, it's possible - but you need a piece of hardware and software to pull it off.

Here's what you need.

1. If you don't have one already, pick up a 3.5mm jack headset for your iPod touch. About halfway down the earphone cord is a tiny microphone so the person you're calling can hear you. I used one that shipped with my Blackberry Curve and it worked just fine. You can buy one for as low as $2.16 by shopping here.

2. On your iPod touch, download the free Skype application for iPod touch/iPhone and sign up for a free account if you don't already have one. I used the same login and password as the Skype on my PC. If you have a Canadian iTunes account, however, then you probably know Skype isn't offered yet in the Great White North (for mobile phones), so try a free VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) app like iCall.

3. Now have your iPod touch or iPhone join a wireless network, such as in your own Wi-Fi hotspot at home. You can then place calls to another Skype/iCall user for free. You don't have to pay a cent if your friends or family have a free account. With Skype, you can also buy inexpensive "Skype Out" credits to call any landline or cell phone.

Easy, no? Indeed. But keep in mind if you have a first-generation iPod touch you'll need some sort of microphone add-on in order to place calls.

Put Limewire Frostwire music, Youtube videos, video files, games on iPod,It's free!

Lot of people have iPods, but many of us still experience difficulties putting music, and videos on iPod. I have been using my iPod for quite a long time, and the five tips below are what I have learned to put everything I can on my iPod:

1. Limewire Frostwire music to iPod
2. Youtube videos to iPod
3. Nokia wma music tracks to iPod
4. Put games on iPod
5. Sync music and videos to iPod

1. Put music and videos from Limewire to iPod

Limewire is a download tool I assume lot of us use. I often use it to download free music and videos and put them on my iPod. If you don't have Limewire, you can download it from its official website.http://www.limewire.com/download it is totally free.
Search and download songs from Limewire. You may get songs in all sorts of formats, but not all formats are supported by iPod.the video downloaded from Limewire Frostwire are always AVI and other video files that iPod doesn't read.

Usually I select three formats: MP3, AAC and M4A formats that are supported by iPod and can be directly transferred to iPod using iTunes. For the detailed specs info, you can visit http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html . After you download the songs, open your iTunes, click "File" from the upper left corner, select "Add file to library", browse your computer hard drive and find the songs downloaded by Limewire, select the songs you prefer, click OK and the songs will be put in your iTunes. Then you can just transfer the songs to your iPod from iTunes.

2. Youtube videos to iPod
I often visit Youtube to watch videos and sometimes I download videos from Youtube to put on my iPod. Youtube videos are in FLV formats, so I use a free online FLV converter to do the conversion

Firstly, go to Youtube and open the page of the video you want to put on your iPod. And you will find the Youtube URL of this video to the right of the playback window. Then copy this URL. See the highlighted area in the figure below:

Secondly, go to http://vixy.net/ , paste the copied URL into the URL field of this web page, and select "MP4 for iPod/PSP" from the "Converts to" drop-down list. Then click "Start" below this list to start the conversion. See the highlighted areas below:

Finally, after the conversion, this website will provide a download link for you to download the converted MP4 file. When you see the link, you can just download the final file from the link, save the downloaded MP4 file on your computer and use iTunes to sync it on to your iPod.

3. Nokia wma music tracks to iPod
Music downloads from Nokia Music Store's Comes with Music is DRM protected WMA of 192kbps,which can't burn to CD to rip to MP3 or play on other player like iPod,zune that don't have authorize license.Does it mean that we are unable share any music from nokia store?

Anything is possible !

You need a 3rd party converter to remove DRM protection first, and then convert them to iPod Zune compatible formats

What I picked for my iPod is Wondershare Media Converter, which performs all round as DRM remover and music & video converter, fast and very easy to handle.

Actually, this converter is the best all-in-one program i ever had for me to convert any format video music ,even any DRM protected files to any popular format . such as it also could remove DRM from iTunes movie and song files. that is to say you can convert iTunes DRM protected files to avi or other format in order to play on the other portable player. you can just download a trial version to see if it is what you need.

Tips: please remember that this program can only help you to convert authorized DRM protected files to common unprotected files legally, that is to say you have to buy the protected files and get authorization first and then you want to share them with your friends or want to play them on anther portable player ,so you can convert protetced wmv wma or iTunes m4v m4p m4b to any other format with this tool.As we know, it's illegal for us to convert the files without authorization.

4. Put games on iPod

An iPod is not a professional game player like a PSP, but it does handle some easy and fun games nicely. One way to get iPod games is to buy them from iTunes store and sync them onto your iPod. If you want play free games on your iPod, which is something I often do, you can use iPodLinux and Rockbox, and there is a great guide you can refer to on how to put games on iPod with these two tools. Click here to view the guide.

5. Sync music and videos to iPod

Obviously, using iTunes to sync files to iPod is the choice of many iPod users. I use iTunes myself but I have found it a bit clunky. Apart from iTunes, there are also apps you can use to sync files to your iPod, either free or not:
a. YamiPod. YaniPod is very popular free tool to transfer files to iPod and it has different version for different operation systems.

b. Xplay. A friend recommended Xplay. I have tried it and found it is a great tool to sync files to my iPod and I just need to "drag-and-drop" my files to my iPod. I haven't bought it yet but I think it is definitely worth a try.

c. MGTEK. This app can sync files with Windows Media Player 11. It is also a very nice tool and pretty cheap.

d. Wondershare iPod Video Transfer is professional iTransfer tool. It can transfer iPod files to computeror iTunes. It can also transfer itunes to another computer

There are a lot more sync tools and you can refer to a comparison list on Wikipedia to and see which ones best work for you.

The above is my experience with converting and transferring files from various sources to my iPod, and I hope it can shed some light.
